Heart disorder refers to any condition affecting the heart. There are many types, some of which are preventable. E.g. Coronary artery disease, congenital heart defects.

Some of the Symptoms can include:  Chest pain

  • Shortness of breath/ Fainting
  • Racing heartbeat / Slow heartbeat
  • Pale gray or blue skin color
  • Swelling in the legs, abdomen or areas around the eyes

Physiotherapists playing a key role in rehabilitation;

  • Cardiac rehab programs; it helps the patient to increase in aerobic fitness, maximum heart rate, endurance, and arterial blood flow.
  • Physical activity; these exercises strengthen leg and trunk muscles. Gradually, gentle activity such as walking is introduced at an individual or group level.
  • Breathing exercises; deep breathing exercises allow your body to fully exchange incoming air. They also lower or stabilize blood pressure and lower stress.
